AREA STAFF OFFICER INSTRUCTIONAL METHOD

Over the past year since last conference the standard of instruction from the Instructors remains high. Some Appointed District Assessors in IM have been busy running courses in their own and other districts. The results from these courses show the high standard of the instructors. It is also good news that the majority of Commanding Officers must have been allowing the techniques learned on the IM courses to be used in their Units.

Courses on the MTWE continue to be full and for those who cannot make the MTWE, I once again say that any Commanding Officer or District Officer who requires a course to be run, then a telephone call should be all that is needed for the course to happen. Enough Appointed Assessors are within the Area to enable most dates to be covered. I do stress though that a
Minimum of Six candidates are needed for this to be viable.
There are Twenty One Appointed District Assessors to choose from. along with the Area Team.

ASO IM attended a seminar at HMS Excellent early this year and was
involved in discussion with all other IM ASO's and HQ Staff. This was to try and bring up to date the way ahead within IM and I can say it was very heart warming that all of us had the same train of thought. It remains that proposed changes have yet to be scrutinised by DoT for approval.

Any queries regarding IM should be directed to ASO (IM) (E) in the first
instance.

Precious volunteer time should not be wasted, so let us all try and be the best we can in instructing and learn the correct way to keep our cadets interested and coming back for more.
